Cushion Cut Engagement Rings
Cushion diamonds are more a family of stones than a single shape, and they vary in sparkle, shape and cut. A square cushion keeps a square outline with softer, bowed edges, while an elongated cushion is a rectangle with rounded corners that lengthens the hand. Treat these cushion cut engagement rings as starting points for a lab-grown or natural cushion. In our downtown Toronto showroom you can compare loose stones side by side in different lighting.

FAQ
What is the difference between a square and an elongated cushion cut?
A square cushion keeps the square shape with softer, bowed edges. An elongated cushion is rectangular with rounded corners and lengthens the hand. Elongated cushions vary widely, from hyper-elongated stones that show more of your finger to plump ones that cover more of it.
What are the different types of cushion cut diamonds?
We group cushions into three types by their sparkle: glitter, brilliant and glam. A glitter cushion sparkles like fine glitter, and a brilliant cushion sparkles much like a round. A glam cushion has a higher crown and reflects light more like a spotlight.
Can you get a lab-grown cushion cut diamond?
Yes. Glitter and brilliant cushions are readily available lab-grown or mined. The glam, or old mine brilliant, cut was long available only mined, but our cutters can now make it in a lab-grown diamond.
How long does it take to make a custom cushion cut engagement ring?
Anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks generally. The exact timeline will largely depend on you. Generally it takes longer the more involved you want to be in the design approval process. Let us know what timeline you need your ring within and we’ll make sure it happens.
