Marquise Engagement Rings

A marquise diamond is an elongated brilliant cut with two pointed ends, also called a navette, French for "little boat". Its weight spreads along its length, so face-up it can look larger than a round of the same carat. Treat any design in our catalogue as a starting point: we can modify any of our settings to fit a marquise, lab-grown or natural. Book a consultation in Toronto or virtually.

FAQ

Can I get a marquise in a ring shown with another shape?

Yes. We can modify any of our settings to fit any shape or size of stone, including a marquise. Claw placement changes the look: east-west claws can make the stone read plumper, and north-south claws can emphasize its length.

What setting is safest for a marquise diamond?

V-prong and bezel settings are usually safest, because the pointed tips are more exposed than on softer shapes like an oval or round. A V-prong protects each point by wrapping it, and a bezel gives more coverage because metal surrounds the edge.

Should a marquise be set vertically or east-west?

Neither is more correct. A vertical marquise points along the finger and feels classic and lengthening. Set east-west, it feels lower, cleaner and more modern, which helps if you do not want the ring to look too tall.

How long does it take to make a custom marquise engagement ring?

Anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks generally. The exact timeline will largely depend on you. Generally it takes longer the more involved you want to be in the design approval process. Let us know what timeline you need your ring within and we’ll make sure it happens.
