Oval Engagement Rings
Set in line with the finger, an oval diamond engagement ring has a lengthening effect, and it usually looks larger than a round diamond of the same carat weight. Ovals are not faceted to one standard, so each one shines in its own way. Some designs here pair the oval with a halo or hidden halo. Treat these oval engagement rings as starting points for a lab-grown or natural oval. At our Toronto studio, in person or virtually, you can compare ovals side by side under real lighting.

FAQ
Do oval diamonds look bigger than round diamonds?
Usually, yes. An oval stretches across the finger, which creates more visible surface area, so it tends to look larger than a round diamond of the same carat weight. A round is more compact, with everything centred.
What is the bow-tie effect in an oval diamond?
It is a darker band across the middle of the stone. Ovals are not circular, so light reflects through them differently than through a round and can leave dark zones. Some ovals show an obvious bow-tie and some almost none, so look for as little as possible.
What is the best length-to-width ratio for an oval diamond?
There is no perfect ratio. The ratio is the length divided by the width, and it sets how elongated the oval looks. Compare ovals of different ratios on your hand, from slender to plump, and choose the look you like.
How long does it take to make a custom oval engagement ring?
Anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks generally. The exact timeline will largely depend on you. Generally it takes longer the more involved you want to be in the design approval process. Let us know what timeline you need your ring within and we’ll make sure it happens.
